TIGERS BLANKED 3-0 BY HURRICANES
Lethbridge, AB – Despite hitting the post on four different occasions, the Medicine Hat Tigers could not solve the Lethbridge Hurricanes falling 3-0 on the road at the Enmax Centre Friday night.
The first period saw both the Tigers and Hurricanes trade multiple chances but Bryan Thomson and and Tigers starter Evan May (Nanaimo, BC) both putting up perfect periods makes eight and nine saves respectively, Medicine Hat would get one power play opportunity, while the Hurricanes had a pair but the opening period at the Enmax Centre would end in a scoreless draw.
In the second period the Tigers would get an early power play but it would be the Hurricanes benefiting as Cole Shepard would beat Evan May on a 2 on 1 from Jett Jones and Nolan Bentham at 3:28 for the shorthanded mark. Despite giving up the first goal the Tigers never let off creating chances but Bryan Thomson would make life difficult for Medicine Hat and on a breakaway chance from Brayden Edwards, despite a great initial save from May but the rebound from the ensuing shot would roll right to Trae Wilkie for a chip in goal for the 2nd of the period for Lethbridge and they’d take a 2-0 lead into the third period. Medicine Hat would lead on the shot clock 22-14 but still weren’t able to solve Thomson and the Hurricanes after 40.
The third period didn’t fair well for the Tigers unable to score on another power play chance and hitting th post for the fourth time from Brenden Lee, it would be Tyson Laventure adding a 4 on 3 power play goal at 10:07 for the final goal scored on this very evening in Lethbridge.
Despite being shutout for the first time this season, the Tigers outshot the Hurricanes 29-24 but were unable to score with the man advantage going 0/4 while the penalty kill would kill off 3/4 opportunities for the Hurricanes.
