Each year the Medicine Hat Tigers and the Medicine Hat News Santa Claus Fund team up to bring cheer to those less fortunate during the holiday season. For years Tiger players had to dress warm and in their jerseys delivered hampers donated by other individuals to those in need. However for the past few seasons, the Tigers have participated in the Santa Claus Fund intake time instead.
Intake time is when families sign up with the Santa Claus Fund for the holiday season and have the opportunity to pick out presents for their family and children. All the gifts at the “store” are donated by the citizens of Medicine Hat. The Tigers helped families choose gifts and wrap gifts for those unfortunate.

Message from the President of the Santa Claus Fund
The Medicine Hat News Santa Claus Fund is a registered charitable organization governed by a board of directors. The Executive Director & Bookkeeper are the only paid part time employees. We do not own or rent office/warehouse space we have limited overhead costs. Each year the SCF searches for a warehouse facility large enough to maintain our three month Christmas operation.
Through the auspices of the Medicine Hat News the Santa Claus Fund has been able to help tens of thousands of families in our community over the past twenty nine years. Our efforts are not limited to Christmas. Throughout the year we are able to give support to families and individuals in dire need. It may be a senior with no family, a single mother struggling to provide for her children or a family in a crisis and we provide them with the necessary assistance.
The SCF was born out of community spirit, that spirit shines through during the Christmas season and at its core is the “spirit of giving”!
It is with pride that I represent this wonderful organization! What a privilege to work with our caring donors who enable the SCF to assist those in their time of need. We all embody that true “spirit of giving”!
