Racicot suspended 6 games
Boucherville, Monday September 25, 2017 – The Director of Player Safety of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Raymond Bolduc, suspended Médérick Racicot of the Val-d’Or Foreurs for 6 games. The suspension was handed out following an incident that occurred on September 22nd against the Sherbrooke Phoenix.
Here is the rationale that led to the decision:
- There was a turnover in the neutral zone, the opponent recovered the puck and headed towards Val-d’Or’s zone on the right.
- Once he crossed the blue line, he headed towards the middle and made a pass to a teammate.
- The player at fault went towards him and hit him.
- The player at fault left his position and went directly towards the opponent.
- The opponent had just made his pass, was in a vulnerable position and tried to protect himself at the last second.
- The player at fault, moving forward, placed himself in a bad situation.
- He propelled himself at impact and the main point of contact was the head.
- This is not the first offense of the player at fault.
- The opponent was injured on the play.
The Director of Player Safety took this decision after having viewed videos of the incident, considered the officials report, spoken to the players and organizations involved and after consulting the Advisory Committee for disciplinary action.
