Titan’s Evan Fitzpatrick named the VAUGHN Goaltender of the Month
BOUCHERVILLE, March 1, 2018 – The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League announced today that Evan Fitzpatrick is the VAUGHN Goaltender of the Month for February.
Fitzpatrick held a near perfect record in 2018’s second month of action, going 6-1-0-0 over his seven starts. Since being acquired from the Sherbrooke Phoenix on the final day of December, he has helped the Titan climb the charts and reach the fourth spot of the QMJHL’s overall standings.
With a 1.70 goals against average and a .933 save percentage over the past month, Fitzpatrick has shown that he is quite effective between the pipes. Not to mention that during six of his seven starts of February, he allowed a mere two goals or less.
Drafted by the St-Louis Blues in the second round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, Fitzpatrick recorded his first shutout of the season on February 23rd thanks to a 24-save outing in a much-needed win against the fifth-seeded Drummondville Voltigeurs.
Despite facing an average of 25 shots per game, the 20-year-old goaltender lost his only game of the month in his very first start of February – a 3-1 defeat against the league’s highest scoring offense, the Halifax Mooseheads.
Fitzpatrick went on to respond by winning his next six games, and is looking to keep that winning sequence alive heading into the month of March.
