Titan put together another strong second to complete sweep

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. – The Acadie-Bathurst Titan became the first team in the Canadian Hockey League to advance to their league final Wednesday night when they completed the sweep of the Victoriaville Tigres. As has been the case many times in this playoffs, the Titan had a big second period to lift them to a 4-3 win over the Tigres at the Colisee Desjardins in game four.

Five minutes in a shot from the point by Noah Dobson was tipped by Jeffrey Viel on its way to the net and Samuel Asselin gathered it on the door step before putting it home to open the scoring. The Tigres evened the score 5:35 later on a goal from Maxime Comtois.

Viel scored his 10th of the post-season 3:19 into the second period to put the Titan back in front 2-1. Elijah Francis picked up the lone assist. German Rubtsov pounced on a rebound to extend the lead to 3-1 later in the frame at 8:44 with assists going to Antoine Morand and Noah Dobson. That’s how the first 40 minutes would conclude.

The Tigres got back to within one just 2:17 into the third period thanks to Felix Lauzon. Viel found the back of the net for the second time in the game midway through the frame to restore the two-goal edge for the visiting side. Crossman and Morand picked up the helpers on what would turn out to be the game-winning goal. Ivan Kosorenkov cut the lead to one with just 1:27 remaining but it wasn’t enough as the Titan eliminate Victoriaville in four games. Evan Fitzpatrick turned aside 38 shots in the victory.
