Rosters announced for the 2024 QMJHL Cup in Châteauguay
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League has just unveiled the four rosters for the 2024 QMJHL Cup presented by FPS Payment. The event will take place in Chateauguay, QC from December 14 to 17.
As revealed a few weeks ago, the four teams have been renamed in honour of four esteemed QMJHL alumni who played in the Midget Espoir League before transitioning to junior hockey and eventually making their mark in the National Hockey League. The alumni are Samuel Montembeault (Montreal Canadiens), Mathieu Joseph (Ottawa Senators), Yanni Gourde (Seattle Kraken), and Jonathan Marchessault (Vegas Golden Knights).
The QMJHL Cup’s second stage will feature six teams: two teams representing the top U15 prospects chosen by Hockey Quebec, and four teams comprising the top 80 prospects born in 2006 from both the LHEQ and RSEQ leagues.
The first segment of the QMJHL Cup took place last October in Dieppe, NB. Each division of the Atlantic Provinces (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland & Labrador) assembled a roster comprised of the top U16 players from their respective regions.
The QMJHL would like to thank Hockey Canada, Hockey Quebec, Hockey New Brunswick, Hockey Nova Scotia, Hockey PEI, Hockey NL, and the Quebec U18 Developmental Hockey League for making the QMJHL Cup possible.
