REGULAR SEASON SUMMARY
The Quebec Remparts finished No. 8 overall with 86 points on the strength of their 40-22-3-3 record. Their 20-year-old offensive leader Matthew Boucher amassed 69 points this season. Their 11th ranked power play at 19.5% won’t cut it if they are hoping to pull off any surprises during the postseason. That crucial aspect of the game must improve. The news is better on the penalty kill where the Remparts placed sixth at 81.4%. Quebec also ranked No. 11 in goals scored with 227 and seventh in goals against with 202. Their longest winning streaks of the season were six games in September and October. In December, Philippe Boucher’s troops suffered through their longest losing skid of the season (4 games). The Remparts are all set between the pipes with Antoine Samuel, who arrived from Baie-Comeau in January just in time to solidify Quebec’s goaltending situation. The Remparts have lost in the first round in each of the last two years and they will be hell-bent on that not happening again in 2018. They were winners of eight of their last 10 games to close out the regular season which is nothing to take lightly as the playoffs get underway.
