QMJHL Player of the Week | Nathan Darveau (April 4, 2022)
The latest Player of the Week in the QMJHL is Victoriaville Tigres goaltender Nathan Darveau. In three games, the 19-year-old from Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec posted a 2-1-0-0 record with a 1.34 GAA, .959% save percentage and one shutout for the defending President Cup Champions.
On Tuesday night at home, Darveau made 36 saves, including 27 in the final two periods, as the Tigres scored a major victory over the first place Sherbrooke Phoenix. He would earn second star honors for the contest, a 2-1 Victoriaville victory.
After stopping 21 shots in a 3-2 loss to the Foreurs in Val-d’Or on Friday night, Darveau and the Tigres skated into Rouyn-Noranda on Saturday night and came away with a 2-0 triumph over the Huskies. For his part, Darveau earned both the game’s first star as well as his first career QMJHL shutout, turning in a magnificent 37-save performance to secure the win.
After seeing spot duty for the Tigres in 2020-21, Darveau, an 11th round selection of the Tigres at the 2019 QMJHL Entry Draft, has posted eight victories, a 3.26 GAA and .913% save percentage for a Victoriaville squad that continues to move onto the next chapter after capturing last season’s title.
