Vincent Arseneau suspended for 8 games
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s Disciplinary Prefect, Raymond Bolduc, today suspended Shawinigan Cataractes’ left winger Vincent Arseneau for 8 games following a game misconduct for checking to the head which occurred during October 21st game versus the Victoriaville Tigres.
Here is the rationale which led to this decision:
The opponent recovered the puck by the boards near the face off circle and threw it back in the end zone while turning his head.
At the same time, the player at fault left the neutral zone to hit his opponent. The opponent was in a vulnerable position and couldnt see the player coming.
The player continued skating towards his opponent even though he could see that he was in a vulnerable position. Theplayer hit his opponent from the blind side on the thorax and the head. Theopponent, on top of taking the hit, went down hard on the ice.
The player was not injured.
The decision was rendered after reviewing the video of the incident, gathering the testimonies from the players and the organizations involved, reading the officials’ report and consulting the independent committee in the matter of disciplinary sanctions.
