Sea Dogs hire new Head Coach
SAINT JOHN, Sunday, May 16, 2006 (QMJHL) Jacques Beaulieu has been named head coach of the Saint John Sea Dogs.
Bob Tipper LeBlanc, general manager of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) club, made the announcement today at a news conference at Harbour Station.
Beaulieu, 38, takes over bench boss duties for Saint John after spending the past six years as an assistant coach with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). London won the 2004-05 Memorial Cup, emblematic of major junior hockey supremacy.
"The Sea Dogs are thrilled to have been able to attract a coach of Jacques’ calibre," said LeBlanc. "He has coached at both ends of the spectrum while with London. The Knights have gone from the bottom to the top and his experience will help us move our program in the right direction. Jacques is young and energetic and is very eager to work with our young players."
