Quick hits with MAINEiacs defenseman Chad Denny
BOUCHERVILLE, Saturday, March 3, 2007 This week, the official website of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League presents an interview with Lewiston MAINEiacs defenseman Chad Denny.
It’s your fourth season in the QMJHL. Do you feel as though you’ve grown into a leader on the team?
"I think so. There are a couple of guys on the team who’ve been bringing along the younger players. There’s Cliche, Daneau, Faubert, Courcelles and myself."
Speaking of Courcelles, the team acquired him over the course of the summer. What has he brought to the table this year?
"He’s brought a lot. He knows what it takes to win having won the Memorial Cup last year with the Remparts. He’s a good guy and he’s been a great addition to our club."
Has the goal been to win it all this year from the start of training camp?
"Pretty much. Every team’s goal is to win the Memorial Cup. Looking ahead, we just want to finish in first place and then go as far as we can in the playoffs."
What’s head coach Clément Jodoin’s approach when the team is struggling?
"Clem’s a great coach. He’ll settle us down and he always stresses the positives. Generally, he stays away from the negative stuff. All three coaches have been great."
How do you get motivated before a game? Do you have a pre-game ritual?
"I just try to take my time, stay relaxed and focused. I try to take it game by game and shift by shift."
