Quick hits with Gabriel Bourque
BOUCHERVILLE, Saturday, December 6, 2008 – This week, the official website of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League sits down with Baie-Comeau Drakkar forward Gabriel Bourque.
You already have more points this year than your entire 2007-08 output. What are the reasons behind the offensive outburst?
"I’ve learned a lot from good players like François Bouchard last year. He said to stay confident and keep working hard even when things weren’t going my way. Also, I trained really hard last summer and it paid off."
Your statistics show that you have better numbers on the road than at the Henry-Léonard Center. Can you explain why?
"To tell you the truth, I’m not sure why I’ve been better on the road. The fact that I know a lot of people in Baie-Comeau could have an impact and make me nervous, but I really have no clue."
Which facet of your game has improved the most in the past year?
"It’s definitely the offensive part of my game. I have two very good linemates and that helps me create more offence."
Tell us a little more about the chemistry you’ve developed with your linemates
"Felix Petit is such an excellent passer and Guillaume Goulet has a great scoring touch, so we blend very well together. The three of us are working really hard and we are having fun playing as a unit."
Do you have plans for the upcoming Christmas holidays?
"Absolutely. I plan on going back home and seeing my family in Montreal."
