Players of the week are Sleigher and Poitras
The Québec Major Junior Hockey League announced its offensive and defensive players of the week selected for the period of Monday December 9 to Sunday December 15, 2002. Players of the week press releases will continue on Monday, January 6, 2003.
Pierre-Luc Sleigher from the Victoriaville Tigres is the offensive player of the week in the QMJHL. The right-winger from La Prairie scored 5 goals, added 7 assists for 12 points in only 3 games and +6.
Last Tuesday December 10, the Rimouski Océanic were at the Colisée des Bois-Francs in Victoriaville. In a 8-3 victory, Sleigher scored 3 goals – included the winning goal – on 7 shots and he got 1 assist for 4 points. Last Friday in a 6-0 victory over the Montréal Rocket, Pierre-Luc scored 2 goals on 6 shots and got 2 assists. He also won 20 of the 27 face-off he took and finished the game with +3. In a tie of 7-7 against the Halifax Mooseheads yesterday afternoon, the talented player got 4 assists.
Finally, Pierre-Luc Sleigher participated to 12 of the 21 goals scored by his team. The Victoriaville Tigres are at the first rank of the Centre Division with 46 points and are at the 2nd rank of the LeBel Conference, only 1 point behind the Val-d’Or Foreurs. The Victoriaville Tigres will play a last game before Christmas Time this Friday December 20th while the Moncton Wildcats will be the visitors.

Rouyn-Noranda Huskies goaltender Mathieu Poitras is the best defensive player of the week in the QMJHL. In his 2 last games, he got 2 wins, preserved a 1.50 goals-against average and a .949 save percentage.
Last Wednesday in Hull, the Huskies won 4-3 over the Olympiques and Poitras did 37 saves; 15 in the third period. Back before their fans on Friday, the Huskies shutout the Castors by 4-0 and Poitras did 19 saves. It was his first shutout of the season and the third in his career. Mathieu Poitras has actually 3 wins in a row.
Finally, the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, who won 6 of their 10 last games, will play against the Remparts in Québec tomorrow. Then they will be in Baie-Comeau on Thursday and in Chicoutimi on Friday.
