Peterborough opens the Memorial Cup with a 3-2 win over the Remparts
MONCTON, Friday, May 19, 2006 (QMJHL) – The Peterborough Petes defeated the Quebec Remparts 3-2 yesterday in front of 6,662 fans at the Moncton Coliseum in game one of the 2006 MasterCard Memorial Cup Tournament.
The game's first star, David Shantz of the Petes, made 45 saves in the win, while his teammate, Jordan Morrison got the game-winner late in the third period. Jamie Tardif and Steve Downie also scored in the win.
Maxime Lacroix and Joey Ryan collected both Remparts goals. Game two sees the Wildcats battle the Giants tonight at 8 pm (Atlantic time).
