New team of Saint John NB will chose first in midget draft.
BOUCHERVILLE, Monday March 7, 2005 (QMJHL) The commissioner of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Gilles Courteau has proceeded this afternoon to the draw determining which of the team between St. John's NL and Saint John NB is going to have the first pick on either the midget draft or the expansion and European drafts. The winner of the heads or tales draw was the New Brunswick team and they chose to draft first on the midget draft, which will occur on Saturday June 4th in Saguenay. St. John’s NL Fogs Devils will consequently have the first pick on the expansion and on the European drafts.
Mr. Courteau also briefed us on amendments that should be voted before the end of the day today by the 18 Governors part of the 2005-06 QMJHL. Subjects discussed were concerning shootout that will eliminate tie game. Furthermore, the School education policy will be put in place to better guide the teams in regards of the players education.
The regular season calendar and the playoff schedule changes were discussed in the meetings but final decisions will only be taken in the next few days.
