Huskiesâ’ Morrison named CHL Player of the Week
TORONTO, Wednesday, January 30, 2008 – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Brett Morrison of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday January 27 after scoring three goals and adding six assists for nine points in two games.
The 20-year-old from Sydney, Nova Scotia started the week with two goals and three assists in an 11-6 win over the Halifax Mooseheads on Friday. He followed up with a goal and three assists, including a helper on the winner in overtime, pacing the Huskies to a 6-5 win over the Gatineau Olympiques on Saturday. Morrison, who was named first star in both games, finished the week with a plus-7 plus-minus rating. The fifth round pick of the Anaheim Ducks in 2007 is third in the QMJHL scoring race with 33 goals and 37 assists for 70 points in 47 games.
Dan Gendur of the Everett Silvertips was the WHL nominee after scoring three goals and nine assists for 12 points in three games and Niagara IceDogs’ goalie Sebastien Dahm was the OHL nominee after posting a 3-0-0-0 record with a 1.35 goals against average and .952 save percentage in three games.
