Eagles edged by Huskies

The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies earned two huge points on Sunday afternoon as they defeated the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 7-6 at the Iamgold Arena in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec.
With the win the Huskies who currently hold the final playoff spot are now three points behind Cape Breton for 15th overall in the league’s overall standings.
Jean-Sébastien Dea led the charge for Rouyn-Noranda recording two goals and two assists in the contest while Denis Kamaev netted a pair of goals as well. Peter Angelopolous, Sven Andrighetto and Mathieu Lemay notched single markers in the win for Rouyn-Noranda who improve to 17-32-3-3 on the season. Jonathan Brunelle recorded two goals and an assist for Cape Breton in the game while Raphaël Corriveau, Kyle Campbell, Denis Kindl and Dany Potvin each found the back of the net for the Screaming Eagles who fall to 20-31-1-2 on the season.
The Screaming Eagles got on the board first in the game as Raphaël Corriveau scored his eighth goal of the season just 45 seconds into the opening period, Jonathan Brunelle and Sébastien Payette were given the assists.
Kyle Campbell would make the score 2-0 for Cape Breton as he netted his fifth goal of the season at 1:58 of the first period, Cory MacIntosh and Sébastien Payette recorded the helpers.
Rouyn-Noranda cut the Screaming Eagles lead to one as Peter Angelopolous fired home his fifth goal of the season beating Philippe Trudeau at 6:21 of the first period, Steven Mercier and Dillon Fournier picked up the assists.
The Huskies would tie the game up at two as rookie Jean-Sébastien Dea found the back of the net for his 11th goal of the season at the 8:41 mark of the opening period, Sven Andrighetto and Antoine Quevillon were given credit for the assists.
Russian right winger Denis Kamaev gave Rouyn-Noranda a 3-2 lead as he buried his 16th goal of the season at 9:20 of the first period, Liam O’Brien was awarded with the lone assist.
Just 14 seconds later, Rouyn-Noranda took a 4-2 lead as Sven Andrighetto scored his 27th goal of the season beating Trudeau, Jean-Sébastien Dea and Jonathan Delorme picked up the assists on the goal.
The wild first period continued as Denis Kamaev made the score 5-2 for the Huskies as he fired home his second goal of the game (17th of the season) at 12:41, Liam O’Brien was given the only helper.
Jonathan Brunelle cut the Huskies lead to two as he found the back of the net for his 22nd goal of the season on the powerplay at 14:43 of the opening frame, Alexandre Lavoie and Sébastien Payette recorded the assists.
The Screaming Eagles would pull to within one as Denis Kindl netted his 16th goal of the season beating Rouyn-Noranda goaltender Robin Gusse at 8:42 of the second period, Alexandre Lavoie and Dany Potvin found the score sheet with the helpers.
Captain Jonathan Brunelle tied the game up at five for Cape Breton as he buried his second goal of the game (23rd of the season) at the 13:09 mark of the second period, William Carrier and Denis Kindl were given the assists on the goal.
Jean-Sébastien Dea put the Huskies up by one as he fired home his second goal of the game (12th of the season) at 14:13 of the middle frame, Sven Andrighetto picked up the lone helper.
The Huskies took a 7-5 lead as right winger Mathieu Lemay found the back of the net for his 11th goal of the season at 5:43 of the third period, Jean-Sébastien Dea and Maxime St-Cyr were awarded with the assists.
The Screaming Eagles would find the back of the net one more time in the game as Dany Potvin recorded his 17th goal of the season at 16:57 of the final frame, Mikael Langlois and Denis Kindl picked up the helpers.
Antonio Mastropietro allowed two goals of three shots before being replaced by Robin Gusse who turned aside 21 of 25 shots in the win for Rouyn-Noranda, his record improves to 8-16-0-0 while Philippe Trudeau made 31 saves before being replaced by William Racicot who faced no shots in his 0:40 of relief, Trudeau did pick up the loss in goal, his record falls to 13-18-0-2.
The Screaming Eagles next game is on Wednesday (February 15th) as they host the Victoriaville Tigres from Centre 200. Game time is scheduled for 7pm.

Angelopolous posts five hits: Rouyn-Noranda left winger Peter Angelopolous recorded five hits on Sunday afternoon against the Screaming Eagles. Stephen Woodworth and Sébastien Payette led the way in the hit department for Cape Breton as both posted four hits apiece.
Final shots on goal: 38-28 in favor of Rouyn-Noranda.
Cape Breton went 1/5 on the powerplay while Rouyn-Noranda went 0/4.
