A joyful victory
In this division confrontation, few people would have bet on the Olympiques that occupy the 5th position of the west division, while the Huskies throne on top.
The Olympiques attacked the first period in force to the delight of the 3089 spectators. Simon Tardif-Richard scored his 11th to continue his series of 8 consecutive games with at least one goal.
In the second period, Derek Sheppard and Quinn O’Brien came to blows. Sheppard had the upper hand over his opponent.
In the middle of the period, an excellent wrist shot from Alexandre Carrier beat Huskies goalkeeper on the side of the blocker side. Martin Reway was his accomplice on his first goal in the QMJHL.
Benoît Groulx’s troop played on their heels in the third period.
Gabriel Desjardins took the opportunity to rush the net and retrieved a loose puck after a powerful shot that Steeves had partially stopped. Late in the game, the Olympiques were saved by a quick whistle that deprived the visitors of a goal when there was only one minute left in the third period.
Robert Steeves stopped 19 shots in the victory. Sunday at 4h00pm, the Victoriaville Tigres will be in town. The Olympiques will try not only to continue their winning streak but also to win some overall ranks.
