Scholastic Players of the Month | David Lafrance Profile
David is a 20-year-old defenseman who hails from Ottawa, Ontario. He played two seasons of junior hockey for the Rockland Nationals of the CCHL. While with Rockland, he graduated high school and then enrolled in courses at the University of Ottawa.
In 2020-21 he was recruited to play NCAA hockey for Robert Morris University, located in Pennsylvania. During his year there, he was successful both on the ice and in the classroom. After his first season, the Hockey program at Robert Morris was abruptly cancelled. David had to find a new home to pursue his hockey and academics.
Fortunately for the Halifax Mooseheads, he joined the team at the start of the current season to continue his dual focus of hockey and academics. David instantly became a big part of the Mooseheads’ defense core and has achieved great success in the classroom as a commerce student at St Mary’s University.
The first semester saw him register for three courses, achieving an overall average grade of B. David continues to be a strong student who takes his schooling seriously. His future plans include playing and studying at a Canadian University.
