WEDNESDAY’S WHL PRE-SEASON ROUND-UP
RAIDERS TOP BLADES – Norwegian forward Jonas Knutsen scored twice and set up another to lead the Prince Albert Raiders to a 6-2 victory over the visiting Saskatoon Blades in WHL pre-season action on Wednesday.
Shane Danyluk tallied a goal and two assists for the Raiders, who trailed 1-0 after the first period but scored three times in both the second and third frames en route to the victory. Chance Braid, Sawyer Lange and Luke Mahura also scored while Mike Winther added two assists. Cole Holowenko made 13 saves on 15 shots through the first half of the game for the Raiders while Luke Lee-Knight stopped all 16 shots he faced over the final 30 minutes.
Ryan Graham and Ryan Olsen, who converted a second-period penalty shot, scored for the Blades, who were 0-for-4 on the power play in the contest. Adam Todd stopped 18 of 21 shots through the first 30 minutes of the game while Patrick Johnson made 13 saves on 16 shots over the final half of the contest.
The 2011 WHL Exhibition schedule continues this weekend with the Everett Silvertips and Edmonton Oil Kings both hosting pre-season tournaments.
