Three-in-a-row the goal in first visit to Brantford
Oshawa, Ont., – Less than 24 hours removed from a big 4-1 win over the Mississauga Steelheads, the Generals head west to take on the newly arrived Brantford Bulldogs in their inaugural home opener.
The Generals head into the Brantford and District Civic Complex with the goal of extending their current streak to three wins, while the Bulldogs are still searching for their first win of the year. Oshawa started the year with a 4-2 loss to Kingston, before rebounding with a 5-4 win over the same Frontenacs and a 4-1 win last night over Mississauga.
Brantford has struggled early this season, dropping a 7-5 contest to the Soo Greyhounds and a 6-2 result to the Sudbury Wolves. The high-scoring games, however, has allowed Bulldogs’ leading scorer Marek Vanacker to shine. He leads the Bulldogs with two goals and three points in two games.
Standout acquisition from last season, Nick Lardis, also has two goals in two games for Brantford.
The Generals have started to find their offensive groove early in the season. NHL prospects Dylan Roobroeck and Rasmus Kumpulainen have been coming alive as of late. Last night against the Steelheads, Kumpulainen finished the night with three assists, while Roobroeck fed a perfect pass to Stuart Rolofs for the Generals’ fourth goal of the night.
Despite being a young team, the Generals are being pushed by their ability to roll out multiple scoring lines. Beckett Sennecke and Luca D’Amato also finished last night with three points, while rookie forward Tristan Delisle easily could have scored three times last night had it not been for strong plays by Steelheads goaltending.
Alternatively, Oshawa’s first-round pick from the 2023 OHL Priority Selection, Owen Griffin, has looked strong in his first three OHL games but is still searching for his first goal.
With puck drop scheduled for 7:00, can the Generals extend their early success into a three-game winning streak, or will the Bulldogs impress their new home fans with their first win of the season?
