Gross to play for Team Switzerland at the 2018 IIHF World U18 Championships in Russia
Oshawa, ON– Swiss Hockey announced today that Oshawa Generals defenceman Nico Gross has made Team Switzerland’s roster that will travel to Russia to play in the 2018 IIHF World U18 Championships.
Gross was the Generals 2017 Import Draft selection and in his first Ontario Hockey League season, he appeared in 58 games accumulating 4 goals and 10 assists for 14 points. Gross appeared in the Sherwin-Williams Top Prospect game and is highly ranked heading into the NHL Draft this June.
Gross has played for his country on numerous occasions at an international level and twice at World Junior Hockey Championships. This past December he was an assistant captain on the team at the World Juniors and saw high praise amongst the media covering the tournament for his play on the blue line and his leadership with the team.
Team Switzerland will play its preliminary round in Group A facing Belarus, Sweden, Canada and the United States.
The 2018 IIHF World U18 Championships will take place from April 19th-29th in Chelyabinsk and Magnitogorsk, Russia.
