JACK DOUGHERTY SCORES PAIR AS WINTERHAWKS DOWN THUNDERBIRDS 4-1
Winterhawks defenceman Jack Dougherty scored a pair of goals late in the second period to guide Portland to a 4-1 win against the Seattle Thunderbirds. Winterhawks goaltender Adin Hill was solid as he turned aside 28 shots to claim second star honours. Seattle went 1/4 on the power play while Portland finished 0/2.

Ivan Nikolishin recorded three points (1g-2a) as the Red Deer Rebels defeated the Kootenay ICE 6-4 on Thursday. Forwards Jeff de Wit and Grayson Pawlenchuk each scored a pair of goals to lead the Rebels attack. ICE forward Noah Philp collected two points (1g-1a) in a losing effort. With the loss, Kootenay has extended their losing streak to 15 straight.

The Medicine Hat Tigers demonstrated a balanced attack as six different skaters located the back of the net in their 6-2 nod over the Moose Jaw Warriors. Tigers defenceman David Quenneville was named the game’s first star after gathering two assists and a plus-3 rating. Medicine Hat outshot Moose Jaw by a 43-34 margin in the contest.

Keanu Yamamoto scored twice in a four goal second period for the Spokane Chiefs who went on to win 5-2 over the Tri-City Americans. Parker Bowles scored both goals for Tri-City and was also awarded a penalty shot at the 13:09 mark of the middle frame but Chiefs goaltender Tyson Verhelst made the save.
