Team WHL completes CHL sweep of Russian Selects With an 8-1 Victory
Kamloops, B.C. – Calgary Hitmen forward Brodie Dupont scored three goals and added an assist to pace Team WHL to a convincing 8-1 victory over the Russian Selects in the finale of the 2006 ADT Canada-Russia Challenge on Thursday, November 30th in Kamloops, B.C.

rThe victory completes a 6-0 sweep for the Canadian Hockey League over the Russians in the six-game series, and improves the WHL to a perfect 8-0 versus Russia in the four-year history of the ADT Canada-Russia series. Team QMJHL and Team OHL each won both of their games versus the Russian Selects earlier in the series.

rDupont’s Calgary teammate Ryan White, Lethbridge Hurricanes star Zach Boychuk and Medicine Hat Tigers speedster Darren Helm each added a goal and an assist for Team WHL, who out-shot the Russian Selects 45-23 in the contest, while Vancouver defenseman Cody Franson and Kootenay’s Ryan Russell added singles in the win.

rAndrey Kiryukhin – with his third tally of the series – scored the lone goal for the Russians, who were held scoreless on four power play opportunities.

rTri-City Americans goaltender Carey Price turned aside 22 of 23 shots he faced to earn the victory for Team WHL. Russian netminder Llya Proskuryakov stopped 37 shots in a losing cause.
