MOOSE JAW WARRIORS: Announce Snowbird Night
Moose Jaw, SK — On Tuesday, March 11th the Moose Jaw Warriors will host the Canadian Forces Snowbirds for their third annual “Snowbirds Night”, and wear commemorative jerseys in honour of the aerobatics team. Conexus is sponsoring the evening, and will match all funds raised from the auction of the special edition jerseys with the proceeds going to the Saskatchewan Children’s Hospital.
“We are honoured to have the relationship that we do with 15 Wing and the Snowbirds,” said Warriors General Manager Alan Millar. “The importance and value of trust and teamwork, in the air and on the ice, is the foundation of this great partnership. Together, we have once again come up with a commemorative jersey to celebrate this great relationship and raise money for local charities.”
January 28th Millar, along with Jake Rodewald, Jesse Forsberg, and Torrin White, spent the day with the Snowbirds at their home at 15 Wing Moose Jaw, it concluded with them flying with the team over southern Saskatchewan.
During the course of the day the Warriors learned firsthand the pressures and expectations that come with being a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force 431 Air Demonstration Squadron.
“This was a once in a lifetime opportunity, I was honoured to be able to spend the day with the Snowbirds and learn from them,” commented Torrin White. “It was interesting to see how similar the two organizations are in terms of preparation, communication, and teamwork.
On March 11th, the day will begin with members of the squadron joining the Warriors on the ice for their game day skate (flight schedule permitting). Before the game they will join the players in their locker room, where they will see how the team prepares for games. Members of the Snowbirds will also be on the bench during warm-ups.
The special edition jerseys worn by the team will be auctioned off with the proceeds going to the Saskatchewan Children’s Hospital.
This auction will begin Tuesday at 6pm and will continue throughout the game on the concourse of Mosaic Place. Following the conclusion of the game the auction will freeze and then resume online, www.mjwarriors.com, Wednesday morning at 10am.
