CHIEFS TOP WINTER HAWKS – Michael Grabner scored two goals to pace the visiting Spokane Chiefs to a 7-4 win over the Portland Winter Hawks in the lone Western Hockey League contest on Monday, January 15th.

rDerek Ryan – with a goal and two assists – Mitch Wahl, Judd Blackwater, J.P. Szaszkiewicz and David Rutherford also scored for the Chiefs (24-15-3-2), who earn their third straight victory. Dustin Tokarski made 21 saves to pick up his ninth victory of the season. The win moves the Chiefs into sole possession of second place in the U.S. Division.

rChris Francis – with two goals – Frazer McLaren and Matt Sokol scored for the Winter Hawks (14-28-1-1), who suffer their second straight defeat. Chris Ward and Kurtis Mucha combined for 33 saves in a losing cause. The defeat keeps the Hawks 21 points out of a playoff spot in the U.S. Division.
