EDMONTON OIL KINGS: Oil Kings Named K-Days Parade Marshals
July 8, 2014 (EDMONTON, AB) – The Edmonton Oil Kings will serve as the Parade Marshals for the 2014 K-Days Parade, joining Honourary Parade Marshals Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry as the headliners for this year’s event, Northlands announced Tuesday.
“These two groups encompass civic pride and service, and we are thrilled to have them lead this year’s K-Days Parade,” said Sharilee Fossum, acting president and CEO of Northlands. “Edmonton is a city full of local heroes, two of which will be recognized at this year’s parade. We are confident that the Edmonton Oil Kings and Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry will do Edmonton proud as this year’s K-Days Parade Marshals and Honourary Parade Marshals.”
As reigning WHL and CHL champions, the Oil Kings will lead the celebration in the streets with players and the Memorial and Ed Chynoweth Cups in tow.

In celebration of their 100th anniversary of service to Canada, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry will serve as this year’s Honourary Parade Marshals. Over it’s 100 year history, thousands of members of Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry have served this nation, and they will be recognized for this long history of dedication and sacrifice.
“It is truly a privilege to be appointed the Honourary Parade Marshal for this year’s K-Days Parade,” said Maj. Slade G.J. Lerch of Princesss Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry.
“As we approach our 100th anniversary, we sincerely appreciate this amazing preliminary event to our commemorative celebrations this summer. Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry is proud of our enduring relationship with the City of Edmonton.”
The K-Days Parade celebrates the diversity of the Capital region, province and country, and the Parade Marshal is chosen annual based on the accomplishments of a group or individual and their contribution to the community. This year’s parade begins at 10:00 a.m. on July 18 at the intersection of 99 St. and 102 Ave.
