Avalanche Sign Macias

DENVER – The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced Wednesday that the team has signed defenseman Raymond Macias to a three-year, entry level contract.

rMacias led all Western Hockey League defensemen in scoring with 70 points (30g/40a) in 70 games for the Kamloops Blazers. He finished second on the Blazers in assists, third in points and fourth in goals. He led Kamloops and finished sixth in the WHL in plus minus with a +29 rating.

rMacias, 20, compiled 184 points (66g/118a) in 276 games for the Kamloops Blazers. The Long Beach, Calif., native led the Blazers in scoring with 47 points in 2004-05. He was Colorado’s sixth selection (fourth round, 124th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
