r WINTERHAWKS MAKE IT FIVE IN A ROW WITH WIN OVER ‘TIPS

r Troy Rutkowski notched the game-winner and added a pair of assists to lift the visiting Portland Winterhawks to a 4-3 victory over the Everett Silvertips in Western Hockey League action on Wednesday, October 7th.
r
r Luke Walker – with his fifth of the season – Ryan Johansen and Brad Ross also counted while Taylor Aronson picked up a pair of assists for the Winterhawks (6-1-0-0), who stretch their winning streak to five games. Ian Curtis made 32 saves to earn his third victory of the season.

r Shane Harper – with a goal and an assist – Kellan Tochkin and Dan Iwanski scored for the Silvertips (2-2-0-0), who were playing their first game since September 26th. Thomas Heemskerk made 25 saves in the defeat.

r HITMEN 4, WHEAT KINGS 3 S/O

r Joel Broda and Brandon Kozun scored in a shootout to lift the visiting Calgary Hitmen to a 4-3 victory over the Brandon Wheat Kings on Wednesday night.

r Kris Foucault notched two goals and an assist and Cody Gross picked up a goal and an assist in regulation for the Hitmen (6-1-0-0), who improve to 5-0 on the road this season. Michael Snider made 30 saves in regulation and overtime, and was beaten just once in the shootout to take the win.

r Matt Calvert – with a pair of goals – and Jay Fehr scored for the Wheat Kings (4-2-0-1) while Andrew Hayes made 28 saves through three periods and overtime but was beaten twice in the shootout for the loss.

r WARRIORS 9, PATS 6

r Jason Bast and Dylan Hood each scored twice and Quinton Howden notched a goal and three assists as the Moose Jaw Warriors downed the visiting Regina Pats 9-6 on Wednesday.

r Travis Hamonic – with a goal and two assists – Ryan Stanton, Kevin Smith and Spencer Edwards also scored while Brendan Rowinski chipped in four assists for the Warriors (5-3-0-0), who converted five of eight power play chances while earning their second straight victory. Jeff Bosch made 27 saves in the victory.

r Jordan Eberle scored three goals for the Pats (4-5-0-0), who see their three-game winning streak halted, while Colten Teubert – with a goal and two helpers – Killian Hutt and Matt Strueby also scored. Dawson Guhle made 32 saves in the defeat.

r Curtis Hamilton and Jyri Niemi each scored two goals and Jeremy Boyer added a goal and two assists to lead the Saskatoon Blades to an 8-4 victory over the visiting Kootenay Ice on Wednesday.

r Walker Wintoneak, Burke Gallimore and Gaelan Patterson also scored while Sam Klassen and Derek Hulak each chipped in three assists for the Blades (3-2-0-2), who were 2-for-2 on the power play. Adam Morrison made 28 saves to record the win.

r Steele Boomer and Kevin King each notched a goal and an assist while Brock Montgomery and James Martin also scored for the Ice (3-5-0-0), who trailed 6-0 before getting on the board midway through the second period. Todd Mathews and Nathan Lieuwen combined for 22 saves in a losing cause.
