Rockets Training Camp Begins Monday
Less than three months after battling all the way to overtime of the 2015 MasterCard Memorial Cup, the Kelowna Rockets are back at it, with the opening of the team’s 2015 training camp on Monday.
The Rockets begin its training camp by welcoming prospects drafted this year in the WHL Bantam Draft as well as other young players in its annual rookie camp.
Players will register Monday and attend a mandatory meeting with the Rockets before hitting the ice on Tuesday morning. Games will take place all week with the rookie camp breaking on Friday.
A few of the players from rookie camp will be moved forward to the Rockets’ main training camp, which will begin on Friday afternoon as veterans and older prospects hit the ice.
Kelowna will hold several days of main training camp into next week as it gets set for a five game WHL exhibition schedule, which begins Sept. 5 at Prospera Place.
The Rockets have three home exhibition games: Sept. 5, 12, and 17 as the club will play consecutive Saturday’s ahead of the start of the WHL season.
Kelowna kicks off the 2015-16 WHL season Sept. 25 at home to Kamloops.
