Rockets Dump Hurricanes 5-0 to Extend Home Win Streak
Jan. 25, 2014 – Kelowna, BC
The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Lethbridge Hurricanes 5-0 Saturday night in Kelowna, scoring four times in the third period to break open a close game and win their ninth game in a row at Prospera Place.
The Rockets led the Hurricanes 1-0 after two periods of play in what was a tightly contested game with a first period goal by Justin Kirkland the only marker.
However in the third period the Rockets poured on the offense and put the game away as the club improved to 40-6-0-2 on the season.
“Lethbridge played very well, that’s why the game was close,” said Rockets head coach Ryan Huska on the AM 1150 post game show. “Until we got that second goal we took the wind out of their sails. We stuck with it and we found a way tonight.”
Myles Bell had a goal and an assist while Marek Tvrdon, Rourke Chartier and Tyson Baillie also scored for the Rockets.
Jackson Whistle earned the win in the Rockets nets, improving to 11-3-0-0 on the season.
It was the Rockets fourth straight win and the second of this weekend as the team will look to continue its winning ways with a Sunday match-up in Seattle.
The Rockets will leave Saturday night for a Sunday afternoon meeting with the Thunderbirds at 5 pm.
Kelowna is back home on Wednesday night when they will host the Spokane Chiefs.
