Rockets Continue Winning Ways in Lethbridge
Dec. 12, 2012 – Lethbridge, AB
The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Lethbridge Hurricanes 3-1 on Wednesday night at the Enmax Centre in Lethbridge, winning the first two games of its five game road trip through the Western Hockey League’s Central Division.
Carter Rigby and JT Barnett scored first period goals while goalie Jordon Cooke earned the win in net as the Rockets extended its winning streak to four games and won for the ninth time in its past 10.
Colton Heffley scored into an empty net to seal the victory while Connor Sutton had the lone goal for the Hurricanes.
The win moves the Rockets’ record to 21-9-1-1 heading into an off day on Thursday before playing three games in three days to close out its five game road trip.
Rockets assistant coach Dan Lambert said part of the key to the Rockets recent success is everyone is playing well and playing for each other.
“You have to give credit to the work ethic of those young men,” said Lambert on the AM 1150 post game show. “Every night it’s a different line whether it’s the forwards or the D or the goali. The one thing I really like about this team is they really care about each other. They are good friends and it’s great to see.”
Kelowna will play in Medicine Hat on Friday, Red Deer on Saturday and Calgary on Sunday to finish the team’s pre-Christmas schedule.
The team plays its next home game on Dec. 27 against the rival Kamloops Blazers.
