Rockets Edge Blazers 3-2 to Sweep Home and Home
The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Kamloops Blazers 3-2 on Monday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna, sweeping both ends of a home-and-home series with the Blazers.
Rookie Kole Lind scored three times to lead the Rockets offense while Tyson Baillie and Dillon Dube each had a pair of helpers in the win as Kelowna swept a home and home with the Blazers to kick off the second half of the WHL season.
The win improves the Rockets record to 27-9-1-0 on the season, first place in the WHL.
With the game tied 1-1 in the third period, Lind broke through for a pair of goals in short order, scoring goals eight minutes apart to give the Rockets a two goal lead. Lind now has 13 goals on the season after scoring four times in the past two games.
Collin Shirley of Kamloops answered back to make the score 3-2 midway through the third.
Michael Herringer earned the win in net for the Rockets. Kamloops outshot Kelowna 39-23 in the game.
The Rockets are back in action on Wednesday night when they play host to the Everett Silvertips, continuing a stretch of five games in seven days.
Kelowna also plays Everett on Jan. 1 before coming back to Prospera Place on Jan. 2 to host Victoria.
