r
r The Kelowna Rockets put a three game winning streak on the line tonight when the Medicine Hat Tigers come to Kelowna for one of two appearances at Prospera Place this Western Hockey League season.
r
r After an 0-2-1-0 start to the season the Rockets have won three straight, including a pair against Chilliwack last weekend to improve to 3-2-1-0, third place in the B.C. division
r
r The Tigers are off to a 3-1-1-1 start in the WHL’s Central division, a point total that has them in third place.
r
r “It’s going to be a game where we’re going to have to be prepared to play for 60 minutes,” said Rockets coach Ryan Huska. “Medicine Hat is always a fast team that works very hard so we’re going to have to match that.”
r
r Here’s a closer look at the game tonight at Prospera.
r
r The young guns: Five out of seven Rockets goals in a 7-2 win over Chilliwack last Saturday came from first year players as the young guys served notice they can be difference makers in the WHL.
r
r “I think it’s great,” said Huska of the offensive output from the rookies. “One challenge for our young guys is to make sure they work hard every shift. Some nights they will play a lot and some nights not so much so they have to make sure they stay positive when that happens.”
r
r In net: Adam Brown will get the nod for the seventh straight game. The 18-year-old has got every start so far for the Rockets this season. Brown has posted a 3.65 goals against average in those games.
r
r Offense galore: The Rockets have been anything but boring so far this year averaging over four goals per game. Last weekend they scored 13 in two games against Chilliwack. Stepan Novotny’s seven goals is tied for the league lead. At Prospera Place the Rockets have scored 16 goals in three games.
r
r Players to watch: Twenty-year-old Bretton Cameron leads the Tigers in scoring with five goals and three assists through six games. Defencemen Mark Isherwood and Jace Coyle each have six points.
r
r Keys to the game: "We have to skate and be prepared to work just has hard as Medicine Hat will be working,” said Huska.
