Day 2 In the Books at Rockets Main Camp
The Kelowna Rockets are through two full days of practices and scrimmages at its 2011 main training camp at Prospera Place and the first roster moves were made, although they came as no surprise.
Most of the Rockets prospects who were brought forward from rookie camp have been re-assigned by the team with the Rockets still carrying plenty of bodies in advance of opening the Western Hockey League exhibition season Friday night.
Rockets management, coaches and scouts watched two more scrimmages at the camp on Wednesday as the body contact and intensity picked up. Coaches also put two teams through fast-paced practices
“A lot of guys have looked really good,” said Rockets assistant coach Dan Lambert. “Our older guys are leading by example and I think that’s very important. It’s been good so far.”
Thursday at camp the Rockets have two final scimmages and a pair of practices as they will close camp Thursday night.
The team is hosting two exhibition games this weekend as the Vancouver Giants and Victoria Royals come to Kelowna to take on the Rockets.
