Chiefs drop Rockets 4-3

r The Spokane Chiefs defeated the Kelowna Rockets Friday night, scoring four second period markers and holding on for a 4-3 win.

r Down 4-2 entering the third period the Rockets took over, pushing to get back into the game. Mitchell Callahan got Kelowna within one goal with a laser-beam wrist shot that made the score 4-3 but the Rockets could get no closer, despite outshooting the Chiefs 12-6 in the third.

r After a scoreless first period the teams exploded for six combined goals in the second period. Spokane got off to a quick start, taking a 3-0 lead on two goals by Tyler Johnson and one by Kyle Beach.

r Tyson Barrie made it 3-1 with the first Rockets goal. Beach then scored a power play goal to make it 4-1 before Barrie's second of the night came with just 11 seconds left in the period to make it 4-2 after 40 minutes.

r After Callahan made the score 4-3 the third, Kelowna had a late power play and pulled goalie Adam Brown, but couldn't force overtime.

r -Prior to the game Kyle St. Denis was named the MacDermott's on Bernard Kelowna Rockets player of the month with eight goals and eight assists in 15 games in October.
