Rockets search for fourth win a row in Everett
The Kelowna Rockets wind up their three game road trip with an early afternoon matchup against the Everett Silvertips tomorrow at 2 P.M.
Kelowna comes into Washington State having won their last three games. They defeated the Kamloops Blazers in a shoot out on January 7th. The Rockets then had some third period heroics to come from behind and defeat the Victoria Royals 4-3 this past Wednesday. The Rockets defeated the Royals again on Friday night with a final score of 9-2.
Centre Dillon Dube has been hot as of late posting eight points (5G, 3A) in his four games since returning from the World Juniors.
The Rockets are 1-0-0-0 on the season so far against the Silvertips defeating them 4-3 in overtime on October 19th.
Assistant coach Travis Crickard says it likely won’t be a high scoring affair.
“It’s more or less whoever can score two goals will probably win the hockey game. It seems like Everett doesn’t score a whole lot but they don’t get scored on a lot either,” said Crickard. “Anytime we play them the scores are always low, it’s all about defense when we play the Silvertips.”
The Rockets currently hold a 26-15-3-0 record that has them sitting in second place in the B.C. division tied with the Kamloops Blazers with 55 points each. The two teams are nine points back of division leaders the Prince George Cougars.
Everett comes into the game in first in the U.S. division with a 27-5-7-1 record that gives them 62 points, just three points ahead of the Tri-City Americans.
This is the final matchup of the regular season between the two clubs.
The Rockets are back in action on Wednesday, January 18th when they host the Moose Jaw Warriors for the only time this season.
