Rockets open main camp
The Kelowna Rockets main training camp on-ice sessions began today at Prospera Place. The camp opened with 61 players, which includes returning players, prospects, and invites who have been split into three teams.
The seven-day camp involves daily practices and scrimmages. Head coach Adam Foote said that the first day always involves jitters, but that everyone is adjusting.
“It has been a good first day,” said Foote. “It’s always hard coming in the first day no matter what level you play at, players are nervous and it’s no longer shinny hockey. There is a lot of good young talent out there and our veterans have done a great job helping them out and getting them adjusted. That is huge, it will help the younger guys grow faster.”
Rockets camp will run until Thursday, August 29. Kelowna will then open their preseason against the Victoria Royals the next night. Tickets are now on sale for all preseason games at selectyourtickets.com, at the Prospera Place box office or by phone at 250-762-5050
