Payworks Recap: Lysell powers Giants past Rockets
The Kelowna Rockets closed out their three-game homestand with a 5-3 loss to the Vancouver Giants on Wednesday night at Prospera Place.
Boston Bruins 2021 first-round pick Fabian Lysell put on a show, getting in on four of the five Giants goals (2G, 2A). Vegas Golden Knight prospect Jesper Vikman turned aside 38 of the 41 shots he faced.
Tonight was the Rockets first regulation loss on home ice this season, Kelowna is now 7-1-0-1 at Prospera Place so far this season.

Fabian Lysell (7, 8) scored both goals during the opening period, including one on the power play.
Mark Liwiski (4) and Colton Dach (9) found the back of the net to tie things up. Adam Hall (9) responded for the Giants less than two minutes after Dach’s power play tally.
Pavel Novak’s (10) blind shot tied up the game early in the third period, but Zack Ostapchuk (2, 3) scored twice to push the Giants ahead for good.

Kelowna was one-for-four with the power play, while Vancouver went two-for-two with the power play.
The Rockets outshot the Giants 41-24.
Talyn Boyko made the start for the Rockets, stopping 19 of the 24 shots fired his way.
With the loss, Kelowna’s record moves to 10-6-0-2.
Rilen Kovacevic, Caden Price and Andrew Cristall were the Rockets scratches.
Price, Cristall and Rockets head coach Kris Mallette were away at Hockey Canada’s Capital City Challenge, which wrapped up in Ottawa tonight with Price and Canada Black defeating Kris Mallette’s Canada Red 5-4 in overtime. Cristall and Canada White defeated the Canadian Women’s National Team 6-1. The trio will return to Kelowna tomorrow.
The Rockets will be back in action on Saturday when they head to Kamloops to face the Blazers at the Sandman Centre.
Kelowna’s next home game is Friday, December 10 when they’ll host the Prince George Cougars at Prospera Place.
