Pair of Rockets prospects compete at 2022 National Aboriginal Hockey Championships
The 2022 National Aboriginal Hockey Championships took place last week with a pair of Rockets prospects competing for the title. Forward Wil Munro suited up for Team Manitoba, while forward Ty Mason helped Team Saskatchewan win a silver medal.
Munro appeared in seven games for Team Manitoba, posting six points (3G, 3A) and four penalty minutes – they did not advance to the medal round.
Mason dressed in six games for Team Saskatchewan, putting up three points (2G, 1A) and two penalty minutes. Saskatchewan fell 3-2 to Team Ontario in the Gold Medal game.
The tournament took place in Membertou, Nova Scotia between May 7th and 14th, 2022.
Munro spent the 2021-22 season with the Parkland Rangers U18 (MU18HL), where he posted 45 points (25G, 20A) and 32 penalty minutes. He added another six points (4G, 2A) and eight penalty minutes through seven playoff games.
Mason played for the Weyburn Red Wings of the SJHL as a 16-year-old this past season, posting 18 points (10G, 8A) and 40 penalty minutes.
Both were drafted by the Rockets in the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft, Mason was picked in the ninth round (184th overall) and Munro was selected in the eleventh round (228th overall).
