Moose Jaw Warriors down Rockets 6-3
The Kelowna Rockets fell 6-3 to the Moose Jaw Warriors in Moose Jaw on Tuesday night.
Carsen Twarynski opened the scoring at 14:54 to set himself a new career high in goals with 21. Tanner Jeannot(23) evened things up at 18:28 and the two clubs were tied at 1-1 after 20 minutes.
Late in the second period Wil Kushniryk scored his first career Western Hockey League goal to regain a Kelowna lead. Just 16 seconds later Kyle Topping(11) extended that lead to 3-1. Kelowna led by two after 40 minutes.
The Warriors scored twice in the first 5:35 of the third to even things at 3-3. Those two came from Jayden Halbgewachs(33) and Justin Almeida(17). At 10:57 Moose Jaw took a lead for the first time of the night thanks to Vince Loschiavo(8). With 4:22 to go Jeannot(24) scored his second of the game to extend the Warriors lead to 5-3. Almeida(18) scored his second of the period to seal it for Moose Jaw. 6-3 Warriors final.
The Rockets were without Tampa Bay Lightning prospect and Rockets Captain Cal Foote, Calgary Flames prospect and Rockets Assistant Captain Dillon Dube, and Vancouver Canucks prospect Kole Lind on Tuesday as all the three are currently away at the Canadian National Junior Team Sport Chek Selection Camp in St. Catharines, Ont.. The camp runs December 12th-15th.
Roman Basran’s record falls to 3-2-0-0 after stopping 24 of 30 shots he faced.
Kelowna’s record is now 18-10-2-1.
Kelowna is back in action tomorrow night when they face the Swift Current Broncos in Swift. Puck drop is at 5:00pm.
Following Wednesday night the Rockets head to Prince Albert to face the Raiders on the 15th before finishing off their prairie road trip in Saskatoon on December 16th.
The next home game for the Rockets will be December 27th when they host the Kamloops Blazers at Prospera Place for a holiday B.C. Division battle.
