Almond Signs With Wild
r Minnesota Wild President and General Manager Doug Risebrough today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed Kelowna Rocket centre Cody Almond to an Entry Level contract.

r Almond, 19 has established new career-highs with 33 goals, 33 assists and a plus-15 rating in 70 games with the Rockets this season. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound native of Calgary, Alberta registered 105 penalty minutes (PIM) and ranks tied for second on the team in goals, third in scoring and added five power play goals, three game-winning tallies and two shorthanded markers. He recorded five points (2-3=5) and was plus-6 in a first round sweep of Kamloops in the WHL’s Western Conference quarterfinals. The Rockets open its semifinal series against Tri-City on Friday. Almond ranked 14th amongst WHL rookies in scoring in 2006-07 with 43 points (15-28=43) in 68 contests.

r Cody told Doyle Potenteau of the Daily Courier, "We were negotiating for the last two or three weeks and the team made it official just recently. It's an awesome feeling, I knew a week or so ago, so I was really excited. It took a little pressure off me and it allowed me to focus on playing hard and trying to win with Kelowna."
