r Tyler Maxwell scored his fifth goal in three games as the Everett Silvertips skated to a 3-1 win over the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds on Friday.

r Shane Harper and Byron Froese also scored for the Silvertips (5-2-0-0), who earn their third win in a row.  Kent Simpson made 21 saves in the win.

r Brenden Sylvester scored the only goal for the Thunderbirds (2-7-0-1), who drop their fourth game in a row.  Calvin Pickard made 40 saves in the loss.

r Adam Hughesman scored once and added three assists to lead the Tri-City Americans to a 4-1 win over the visiting Prince Albert Raiders in Western Hockey League action on Friday, October 16th.

r Brendan Shinnimin notched a goal and two assists and Jordan Messier and Jarrett Toll also scored for the Americans (7-2-0-0), who pick up their fifth consecutive victory and move to within two points of the U.S. Division lead.  Drew Owsley made 26 saves to record the victory.

r Jordan Hickmott scored the only goal for the Raiders (5-8-0-0), who finish their U.S. Division road trip with a 1-4 record.  Garrett Zemlak made 31 saves in the loss.

r Craig Cunningham scored twice and set up another and rookie netminder Brendan Jensen made 15 saves to record his first career WHL shutout as the Vancouver Giants blanked the visiting Prince George Cougars 8-0 on Friday.

r Kevin Connaughton, Lance Bouma and Brendan Gallagher all tallied a goal and an assist while Neil Manning, Mike Piluso and JT Barnett also scored for the Giants (8-2-0-2), who earn their third straight win.

r Andrej Kudrna and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins each scored twice and Willie Coetzee chipped in four assists as the Red Deer Rebels defeated the visiting Portland Winterhawks 6-2 on Friday.

r Brett Ferguson notched a goal and two assists and Josh Cowen added a goal and a helper for the Rebels (5-6-0-0), who win their second straight and remain in a tie with Kootenay for third place in the Central Division.  Darcy Kuemper made 34 saves.

r Spencer Bennett and Brad Ross scored for the Winterhawks (8-4-0-0), who remain in first place in the U.S. Division, despite the loss.  Ian Curtis and Kurtis Mucha combined for 33 saves in the loss.

r Carter Ashton’s seventh goal of the season early in the third period was the winner as the visiting Lethbridge Hurricanes edged the Brandon Wheat Kings 2-1 on Friday.

r Max Ross also scored for the Hurricanes (4-7-1-0), who win their third straight road game, while Linden Rowat made 34 saves to backstop the team to the victory.

r Aaron Lewadniuk scored for the Wheat Kings (5-5-0-1), who outshot the Hurricanes 27-18 over the final two periods of play.  Andrew Hayes made 28 saves in a losing cause.

r Hayden Rintoul’s first goal of the season midway through the third period broke a 3-3 tie as the Kootenay Ice edged the visiting Spokane Chiefs 4-3 on Friday.

r Dustin Sylvester and Max Reinhart each tallied a goal and an assist and Brayden McNabb also counted for the Ice (5-7-0-0), who snap a two-game losing skid.  Nathan Lieuwen made 35 saves in the win.

r Kenton Miller, Mitch Holmberg and Jared Cowen scored for the Chiefs (4-3-1-0), who converted one of four power play chances in the contest.  Martin Chase made 26 saves in the loss.

r Zak Stebner scored 2:20 into overtime to lift the visiting Kamloops Blazers to a 5-4 win over the Regina Pats on Friday.
