Carolina Hurricanes prospect Alex Nedeljkovic dazzled in his Niagara IceDogs debut on Tuesday, making 44 saves in a 2-1 road victory over the Peterborough Petes.
Nedeljkovic limited the Petes to just one goal as blueliner Dominik Masin’s first period marker launched the teddy bears from their seats before third period markers from Johnny Corneil and Ben Jones saw the Dogs come away with two points.
The Niagara win came in one of two Tuesday night conests.
NIAGARA 2 PETERBOROUGH 1 – Alex Nedeljkovic stole the show in his Niagara IceDogs debut on Tuesday, earning first star honours with 44 saves in a 2-1 win over Peterborough. The Carolina Hurricanes prospect was beaten just once as Dominik Masin scored the teddy bear toss goal in the opening frame. The Petes wouldn’t be heard from again though as third period markers from Johnny Corneil and Ben Jones sealed the deal on a 2-1 win. IceDogs forward Josh Ho-Sang extended his current point streak to 19 games with an assist. Petes goaltender Matt Mancina made 34 saves in the loss.

KITCHENER 5 GUELPH 2 – Connor Bunnaman brought down 10,190 teddy bears to the ice with his first of three goals in a 5-2 Rangers victory over the Guelph Storm on Tuesday. The 17 year-old Bunnaman scored in each period to record his first OHL hat-trick as the Rangers won their fourth straight game to improve to 22-3-3-0. Mason Kohn and Nick Magyar also scored for Kitchener while Givani Smith and Brock Philips, who scored his first OHL goal, responded for Guelph. Justin Nichols made 41 saves for the Storm in the loss.
