Knights become first team to clinch spot in 2024 OHL Playoffs
The London Knights are into the OHL Playoffs for a 23rd consecutive season, tying the Plymouth Whalers (1992-2014), Oshawa Generals (1978-2000) and Guelph Storm (1993-2015) for the second-longest such streak in OHL history.
Flint’s 4-3 shootout win over the Sarnia Sting on Wednesday secured London’s trip to the postseason as the Knights are on pace for a fifth straight Midwest Division title, boasting a record of 38-11-0-3 with points in 23 consecutive games dating back to Dec. 14th.
Easton Cowan currently boasts the OHL’s longest point streak of 21 games entering London’s next action at home to the Soo Greyhounds on Friday. He and teammate Denver Barkey are tied for the OHL lead in shorthanded goals with seven apiece.
Knights goaltender Michael Simpson currently leads the OHL with a 2.54 goals-against average and 26 wins.
The Knights were the second-ranked team in the CHL Top 10 Rankings this past week, while their standing atop the OHL Power Rankings has been intact for five of the past six weeks.
