Attack Finalize 2-1 Winning Score in Overtime
The Attack recently traveled back from their weekend road trip from Windsor Sunday, as they prepared for a hearty home game against the Oshawa Generals late Tuesday evening. The Attack and Generals both held tight to their 1-1 score for the majority of the game, when the Attack would push through in overtime for a 2-1 win. Leading the Attack was Captain Colby Barlow with 2 goals, following with assists from Deni Goure, Cedrick Guindon and Sam Sedley. Sedley would dig deep, earning his Franchise title of Most Career Points by a Defencemen with 158 points in total. Sedley has now surpassed former Attack Defencemen such as Santino Centorame (157 points) , Chris Bigras (155 points) and Bobby Sanguinetti (142 points). In net for the Attack was Carter George, making 42 saves of 43 shots.
The game began strong as both teams fought hard to stay in control of the puck. The Generals would ultimately score early in the first period on the Attack’s net, opening the scoring of the night. Although gaining traction and stay in close courtiers with the Attacks’ territory, George proved to be thorn in the side of the Generals plans as he blocked many of their attempts. The Attack would spring into action minutes later. Goure, passing to Sedley from the blue line would push the puck into an open pocket where Sedley would take full advantage of. Setting up, Sedley would pass to Barlow, shooting into the back of the Generals net. The score was now tied 1-1.
Pushing each other to the limit, both teams had shown great resilience and strength in play as the score remained at 1-1 throughout the second and third period, bringing us into overtime. With two minutes left of overtime, Colby Barlow would use a breakaway in play to his advantage, racing down the ice towards the Generals net where he woudl sink in the Attacks final goal, bringing the score to 2-1 Attack.
