Playoff hockey returns to Lansdowne for the first time since 2012 tonight at 7:00 and Saturday afternoon at 1:00. Got your seats yet?
The 67’s took the regular season series against their first round opponent, Niagara, by a 3-1 margin. But the IceDogs have been one of the hottest teams in the OHL in the second half of the season and their confidence is through the roof. It should be a great series.
The 67’s are the 4th seed hosting the 5th seed IceDogs which could pay off with the 67’s holding a 25-6-3-0 record at TD Place. The 67’s finished the regular season ranked 2nd on the penalty kill and 8th on the power play. The 67’s were led in scoring this season by 2015 draft eligible Dante Salituro who also earned a nomination yesterday for the Red Tilson award which goes to the League’s top player.
Niagara IceDogs
The IceDogs are led in scoring by Leafs prospect Carter Verhaeghe (3rd RD,Tor). Josh Ho-Sang (1st Rd,NYI), Brendan Perlini (1st Rd,Ari), Cody Payne(5th RD Bos),Aaaron Haydon (6th Rd. Dal), Ryan Mantha (4th Rd, NYR) Blake Siebenaler (3rd Rd, CLB) and Brent Moran (4th Rd Dal) are all drafted as well. Brent Moran and Billy Jenkins are the 2 local players for the IceDogs. Vince Dunn and Graham Knott both are ranked by Central Scouting for the upcoming NHL entry draft. Niagara finished the regular season ranked 4th on the Penalty and 9th on the Power Play.
Saturday’s game at TD Place is a great opportunity to come early and try one of Lansdowne’s new restaurants. Doors open at noon so you might want to just get in the arena for a hot roast beef sandwich or any of the great arena fare options. You’ll need energy to cheer at the top of your lungs as the 7th man to get the boys on their way to victory. Tell your friends to meet you at the game. Tickets and parking passes are available here.
