The Portland Winterhawks (19-14-1-0) earned a 4-3 victory over the Victoria Royals (17-15-3-0) Wednesday in a road contest played in Victoria.
Forward Cody Glass led the way for the Hawks offense tonight with a goal and two assists, but it was Winterhawks rookie Ilijah Colina’s first career Western Hockey League goal that made the difference against the Royals. After a burst of speed up the ice, Colina collected a pass from Evan Weinger and fired it home to notch his first WHL goal, the game-winner.
Following tonight’s game, the Hawks will hop on the ferry to the British Columbia mainland where they will meet the Vancouver Giants Friday, and then finish the first half of the season in Everett Saturday.
