Raiders Name Co-Captains
Prince Albert SK- The Prince Albert Raiders have announced that 18-yeard-old centre Mark McNeill and 20-year-old right-winger Brandon Herrod will be the teams’ co-captains for the 2011-2012 season.
Herrod has played 274 regular season games in a Raider uniform, collecting 88 goals and 117 assists for 205 points. The Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan product is entering his fifth season with the Raiders after scoring a career high 68 points in the 2010-2011 campaign. Herrod was drafted by the Raiders in the 3rd round, 46th overall in the 2006 Western Hockey League Bantam Entry Draft.
McNeill scored 81 points, including a team leading 49 assists, in 2010-2011 and will be entering his third full season with the Raiders. McNeill spent the pre-season with the Chicago Blackhawks after being drafted in the 1st round, 18th overall, at the 2011 National Hockey League Entry Draft. The Edmonton, Alberta product was selected in the 1st round, 5th overall, by the Raiders in the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft.
“We feel McNeill and Herrod complement each other and will do an excellent job leading our team this season,” said Raiders Head Coach and General Manager Bruno Campese.
