Raiders and CIBC Launch Read to Succeed
Prince Albert SK – The Prince Albert Raiders, with the support of CIBC, have launched the “CIBC Read to Succeed” Program for the 2013-14 season for elementary schools in Prince Albert and surrounding areas.
CIBC Read to Succeed is designed to emphasize the importance of reading, receiving a good education and lifelong learning. Players from the Prince Albert Raiders wish to set an example for elementary students and promote the importance of literacy to students through classroom visits. Players spend time reading to students, and answering questions from the students in the school.
“CIBC cares about nurturing and educating Canada’s young people so they can build a better future. That is why we are proud to support the Western Hockey League’s reading programs”, says Tom Weber, Region Head, Central Canada, CIBC.
CIBC Read to Succeed will also recognize students who achieve their specific classroom goals by presenting them with a complimentary ticket to an upcoming game. Participating schools will be given a total of 20 ticket vouchers to award to students. The objective behind this program is to reward students that work hard and show initiative. It gives every student the opportunity to earn a free ticket even if they don’t have straight A’s and B’s.
How the Program Works:
Three (3) Prince Albert Raider players will visit your school and read “Brady Brady” hockey books to students in Kindergarten to Grade 3. The players will read two of the books to students, and talk about the importance of reading and literacy.
There will be a question and answer period, as well as an autograph session for your students.
Each school will receive a complete 8 book set of the “Brady Brady Hockey” novels autographed by our team for your school library as well as 20 ticket vouchers to reward students in your school with.
